President and Chief Executive Officer
As a co-founder of JohDar Corporation, John Paoli functions as the President and Chief Executive Officer. John has over 30 years of experience driving business development, leadership as well as entrepreneurial endeavors.
Together with Dr. Darrick Kim, John developed JohDar Corp. to design and develop health-oriented products to protect the public from natural and/or manmade biological agents and "clean" products for the future, growth and protection of the general public.
With an AAS Degree in Criminal Justice from Waubonsee College where he graduated with honors, John also has numerous certifications and licenses through the Northeast Multi-Regional Training (NEMRT) specializing in Criminal Justice. John has also served as a Police Officer certified by the state of Illinois, is a licensed Police Officer in the state of Indiana.
Along with his criminal justice background, John founded three martial arts schools throughout the Chicago suburbs. As a 5th degree black belt John has led numerous classes and seminars and has instructed local Police Departments in Defensive Tactics. He was awarded the first Defensive Tactics Award given by the State of Illinois Police Academy.
John has owned and operated a small chain of retail stores for many years and is the founder of Paoli Enterprises. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of GLL Corp. of Illinois as well as Surefire Inc. based in Nevada. He resides in the Chicago suburbs.
Darrick S. H. L. Kim Ph. D
Director & Chief Science and Technology Officer
Dr. Kim received his B.S. degree in both biology and chemistry from University of California, Irvine (1985), M.S. degree in organic chemistry from University of California, Irvine (1989), and Ph.D. degree in organic chemistry from University of California, Irvine (1992). Darrick's postdoctoral work was under the supervision of Dr. Chang, C.-j in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, at Purdue University.
He has had facility positions at University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, the Program for Collaborative Research in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PCRPS), College of Pharmacy. He held a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the College of Pharmacy and was also a member of the Campus Senate, and the Alternate Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, Pharmacognosy Section.
He is an inventor of eleven U.S. patents and has ten U.S. patents in pending and an author of over 30 scientific journal publications. He is a reviewer of Journal of Natural Products, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Letters, Journal of Organic Chemistry, and Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. His current research interests are in the areas of natural products-based drug discovery against neurologic dysfunctions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, autism, etc. and betulinic acid-based human melanoma selective antitumor drug development.
In 2001, he founded CurXceL Corporation, a biotech company that focuses on the drug discovery and development against aging-related neurologic dysfunctions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma, and currently holds the position of CEO and President of CurXceL Corporation. He also co-founded a nutraceutical/pharmaceutical company Global Life Laboratory Corporation (GLLC) that manufactures and markets alternative medicinal products. Dr. Kim serves as a member of the Board of Directors of GLLC. He also is a co-founder of JohDar Corporation and holds the title of a director and chief science and technology officer. He resides in Schaumburg, Illinois, with his wife and four sons.
